To understand and predict
moisture conditions in materials
The essence in handling moisture
is a deep understanding of the
behaviour of moisture in
materials. The so called
sorption curve, and its
background, is a core part for
such an understanding.
The consequences of
the sorption curve
are i.e. that
moisture in
materials behaves
quite different than
moisture in air. For
example, when the
temperature rises,
the relative
humidity (RH) in a
material will
increase, contrary
to what happens in
air! This
understanding is
required to be able
to describe and
quantify the
moisture conditions
in materials and
structures and how
they change with
time.
